Email on HB 1388
Please forward this to all of your friends and loved ones. This is urgent.
Those of you who know me are certain of one thing - I DO NOT forward emails as a rule. This time, I’m starting one, and I ask that you would take the time to read this, and then send it along to EVERYONE that you know. Please, this is a very serious situation that needs to be brought to light.
House Bill 1388 - “The GIVE Act” Has passed the House and will be voted on in the Senate on Monday 3/23/09.
The bill will set up, among other things, youth corps to promote volunteerism under the Obama administration. The problem is that the bill leaves open the option to vote in into being MANDATORY for every able bodied person in the US, including school-aged children. Under the guise of being volunteers, the reality is that when you are forced to act in a group, it’s no longer voluntary.
Unfortunately, it gets worse.
In addition to everybody being forced to join these groups, members are STRICTLY PROHIBITED from participating in the following activities:
(Note: these are NOT exclusive to group participation, but expressly prohibited TOTALLY )
H.Amdt 49 to H.R. 1388 Prohibits Organizations From Influencing… Legislation, Protesting or Petitioning.
SEC. 1304. PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES AND INELIGIBLE ORGANIZATIONS.
Section 125 (42 U.S.C. 12575) is amended to read as follows: `SEC. 125. PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES AND INELIGIBLE ORGANIZATIONS.
`(a) Prohibited Activities- A participant in an approved national service position under this subtitle may not engage in the following activities:
`(1) Attempting to influence legislation.
`(2) Organizing or engaging in protests, petitions, boycotts, or strikes.
`(3) Assisting, promoting, or deterring union organizing.
`(4) Impairing existing contracts for services or collective bargaining agreements.
`(5) Engaging in partisan political activities, or other activities designed to influence the outcome of an election to any public office.
`(6) Participating in, or endorsing, events or activities that are likely to include advocacy for or against political parties, political platforms, political candidates, proposed legislation, or elected officials.
`(7) Engaging in religious instruction, conducting worship services, providing instruction as part of a program that includes mandatory religious instruction or worship, constructing or operating facilities devoted to religious instruction or worship, maintaining facilities primarily or inherently devoted to religious instruction or worship, or engaging in any form of religious proselytization.
`(8) Providing a direct benefit to–
`(A) a business organized for profit;
`(B) a labor organization;
`(C) a partisan political organization;
`(D) a nonprofit organization that fails to comply with the restrictions contained in section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 except that nothing in this section shall be construed to prevent participants from engaging in advocacy activities undertaken at their own initiative; and
`(E) an organization engaged in the religious activities described in paragraph (7), unless Corporation assistance is not used to support those religious activities.
`(9) Conducting a voter registration drive or using Corporation funds to conduct a voter registration drive.
`(10) Such other activities as the Corporation may prohibit.
`(b) Ineligible Organizations- No assistance provided under this subtitle may be provided to the following types of organizations (including the participation of a participant in an approved national service position under this subtitle in activities conducted by such organizations) or to organizations that are co-located on the same premises as the following organizations:
`(1) Organizations that provide or promote abortion services, including referral for such services.
`(2) For-profit organizations, political parties, labor organizations, or organizations engaged in political or legislative advocacy.
`(3) Organizations that have been indicted for voter fraud.
`(c) Nondisplacement of Employed Workers or Other Volunteers- A participant in an approved national service position under this subtitle may not perform any services or duties or engage in activities which–
`(1) would otherwise be performed by an employed worker as part of his or her assigned duties as an employee or by another volunteer who is not a participant in an approved national service position; or
`(2) will supplant the hiring of employed workers or work of such other volunteers.’.
Mandatory involvement in this group ensures that it’s members WILL NOT be allowed to legally teach the Gospel to anyone (believers and non-believers alike), preach a sermon, build church facilities, maintain church buildings, and the like, in addition to trying to influence people politically. This membership is a 3-year one, so far. Either way, that’s three years that the government will not allow you to do what God has instructed - to teach and spread His word!
THIS IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL ON SEVERAL LEVELS!
First (and most importantly), it violates the First Amendment. For those that may not be aware of the text of the Constitution, it says:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
This law would PROHIBIT THE FREE EXERCISE OF RELIGION to those members of these groups. Imagine if this were mandatory! OUR RIGHTS ARE BEING VIOLATED!
Second, this law violates the Thirteenth Amendment. Here’s the text:
Section 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime where of the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.
Here we have two very solid examples of how this law is unconstitutional. Unfortunately, this bill is being rammed through. It has passed the House, and will most likely pass in the Senate tomorrow (Monday, March 23).
For those of you who think the Democrat administration is for the protection of our civil liberties and constitutional rights, you have been lied to. For the Democrats who believe that Obama is better than Bush because of his departure from constitutionally mandated authority, stop whining about Bush and realize that your leader, Barack Obama, is in the process of doing far more damaging things to our freedoms.
And if you don’t buy that, you should remember that the Patriot Act that Democrats loathe so much was VOTED FOR by OBAMA, and has not been repealed! Whether by lack of attention or future intent to use, I cannot say. However, if our personal freedoms were that important to the Democrats, this would have been eliminated already.

Rep. Frank Wolf [R, VA-10]
Rep. Donald Young [R, AK-0]
Rep. C. W. Young [R, FL-10]These people deserve neither your support nor your vote.
President Obama, as all presidents, took an oath when entering the office he holds:
“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”
I ask you, how does passing a law that violates the Constitution either preserve, protect, or defend it? It doesn’t. It’s a blatant violation of our rights. It then becomes the duty of our service men and women to do as their oath says:
I, (NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.
I would argue that those who seek to directly violate the rule of law set forth by the Constitution are ENEMIES of our country, and therefore must be stopped either by vote or by enforcement of the law.
PLEASE contact your local Senators and see what can be done. This law will most likely be passed tomorrow, but we should not let that be the end of it. It’s time for all who consider themselves to be both Christians and conservatives to stand up against the tyranny presented by the liberals who seek to destroy our freedoms.
If you would like to read the bill for yourself, it can be found here:
http://www.rules.house.gov/111/LegText/111_hr1388_txt.pdf
We have until around 6:00 PM Eastern.
I recommend a couple of actions:
First, send this email to EVERYONE you know. The more people read this, the better.
Second, CALL THE WHITE HOUSE and demand that Obama put a stop to this madness. 202-456-1111
CALL THE SENATE and demand that this be stopped. 877-210-5351
PRAY that these enemies of the state are stopped. If this passes, prepare yourself to resist those who would force you to refrain from doing God’s will. This may be the fight of our life. Now is the time to take seriously into account the need to potentially defend yourself and your family from a tyrannical government. The Second Amendment guarantees us the right to keep and bear arms. If you do not have them, get them. If you are unable to defend your family, learn how. Pray that we will not have to do so, but be fully prepared to.
I will not allow my family to be forced into something that will deny them the right to practice their religion without a fight, legal or otherwise. Who should we obey, God or man? My children WILL NOT be told that they must not teach the gospel…under ANY circumstances.
Will yours?

This piece would be one that not only shouldn’t be passed on but never should have seen the light of day. It is one of the most amazing falsehoods I have ever seen on the Internet and is easily debunked by Googling HR 1388 and actually reading it. No where in is funding to bring Palestinians here.
It is also easily debunked by searcing the usual debunking sites:http://www.factcheck.org/2009/05/hr-1388-passed-behind-our-backs/

You should stick to your rule of not forwarding e-mails. Especially those that are as false as this one. Try reading the bill then fact check it. If you find anything that remotely gives truth to what you say above I’d love to see it. Stick to your rules….don’t forward e-mails and also check out what you say before you say it, might save you the embarrassment that this must have created for you.
